MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The plane went down when approaching the runway at the Kiunga airport in Papua New Guinea’s Western Province.
"The Australian High Commission in Port Moresby is liaising closely with local authorities to determine whether Australians were on board the aircraft," the statement says, as quoted by The Queensland Times newspaper on Thursday.
The twelve victims of the Wednesday plane crash include the pilot, believed to be an Australian national.
