Tensions are flaring up between Yerevan and Baku: Armenia has violated the ceasefire line in Nagorno-Karabakh 115 times in the past 24 hours.

BAKU, April 6 (Sputnik) – The Armenian Armed Forces have violated the ceasefire in place on the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh 115 times in the past 24 hours, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry press spokesman Vagif Dyargakhly said Wednesday.

Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on an immediate ceasefire on Tuesday, after almost four days of intense fighting in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Over the last 24 hours, the Armenian Armed Forces violated the ceasefire regime on the contact line 115 times,” Dargakhly told RIA Novosti.

He added that the Azerbaijani side had respected the cessation of hostilities.

Nagorno-Karabakh lies within Azerbaijan but is controlled by ethnic Armenians. It was at the heart of an Azeri-Armenian war in the early 1990s that ended in a Russia-mediated ceasefire in 1994.
