MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Austrian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade warned tourists about possible terrorist attacks in Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur.
"Terrorists may be planning attacks in and around Kuala Lumpur. Attacks could be indiscriminate and may target Western interests or locations frequented by Westerners. You should be particularly vigilant at this time," the department's latest travel advice reads.
Malaysia was put on security alert in January after a string of bomb and gun terror attacks in neighboring Indonesia. According to media reports, the Malaysian-Indonesian wing of the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) jihadist group, outlawed in many countries including Russia, the same month issued a video threatening revenge for the arrests of its members in Malaysia and promised to "only increase in number."
