Daesh Reaches Indonesia: What Was the Real Message of Jakarta Attack?
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Daesh jihadist group – outlawed in many countries, including the United States and Russia – has been suspected of plotting violence in Indonesia since it claimed responsibility for the January 14 gun and bomb attacks in Jakarta.

"IS is now using cyanide to terrorise. They are using cyanide to poison food," security minister Luhut Pandjaitan told reporters, as quoted by the International Business Times outlet.

Pandjaitan said that national security forces had been placed on alert. Daesh militants are considering various potential scenarios for attacks, the minister said, urging nationwide vigilance.

In 2012, a radicalized Indonesian man was arrested over a plot to poison police using cyanide-laced chili. He assembled a group of like-minded radicals and was detained together with an accomplice after trying to add poison to chili pots sold at a stall outside a police station in central Jakarta.
