BEIJING (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said that China was one of the top international concerns of the United Nations, referring to Beijing's military intentions.
"China is a peace-loving country, we stand for peaceful development," Lu said, giving Beijing's assessment of Carter's comments.
According to the spokesman, China's development has and will never pose a threat to other countries.
Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the biggest army in the world with a strength of more than two million military personnel. Beijing also possess nuclear weapons and an aircraft carrier, with a second one under construction, which makes the Chinese army one of the strongest and most operational in the world.
