TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to Yonhap news agency, the South Korean government tried to deliver the resolution, urging Pyongyang's nuclear disarmament and condemning the nuclear test, through the Panmunjom negotiation point in the demilitarized zone between the countries, but North Korea refused to accept it.

Following the first North Korean nuclear test in 2006 and the third in 2013, Seoul also tried to hand over similar resolutions condemning Pyongyang, however, they were not accepted, according to the media outlet.
On January 6, Pyongyang claimed it had carried out its first hydrogen bomb test, which triggered condemnation from the international community that denounced the test as provocative and undermining stability in the region.
North Korea declared itself a nuclear power in 2005 and conducted nuclear tests in 2006, 2009 and 2013, having earlier withdrawn from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that it ratified in 1985.
