BEIJING (Sputnik) — Beijing is expected to host the first AIIB meeting at the ministerial level, however the following meetings could be held in other cities, China Daily newspaper reported, citing a source in the Chinese Ministry of Finance.
On January 16-18, the AIIB board of governors and board of directors' meetings are expected to be held in Beijing, according to the newspaper.
The AIIB is a China-proposed international financial institution created to invest in infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region. In October 2014, the Articles of Agreement establishing the bank were signed by 21 states. At the moment there are 57 prospective founding members in the bank, including China, Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
