Consumer spending in Japan decreased 2.4 percent in October as compared to the 2014 figures for the same month.
Household spending fell 0.4 percent from September to October, The Financial Times said on Friday.
The new figures come as Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is pushing for higher wages in order to give a boost to consumer demand with the aim of accelerating inflation.
Japan’s core inflation rate was down 0.1 percent for the third month in a row in October.
