Putin Offers Indonesia Condolences Over Deadly Plane Crash in Medan

The Hercules C-130 plane came down shortly after the takeoff from an air force base. It rammed into two houses and a hotel before bursting in flames. The precise death toll was not immediately known. Local media cited a military authority as saying they feared that no one of 101 passengers and 12 crew members on board the aircraft had survived.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences on Tuesday after a military transport plane crashed earlier today killing more than 100 people, the president’s press office said.

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered condolences to Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo over the multiple casualties caused by the crash of a military transport plane near the city of Medan," the statement said.

Putin said his heart goes out to friends and relatives of those killed in the tragic accident on Tuesday.
