"There are a total of 36 Russian citizens on board the plane," head of the ministry's Nepal rescue squad Alexander Romanov told RIA Novosti in the early hours of Monday, adding that the evacuees are being accompanied by medics and psychologists.

Last week, two Russian planes with about 100 rescuers and medical staff on board evacuated 128 people, including 91 Russian citizens, from the country.

A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal on April 25. Its epicenter was located about 50 miles northwest of Kathmandu.

The earthquake and its numerous powerful aftershocks claimed the lives of over 7,000 people, including dozens of climbers who were hit by earthquake-triggered avalanches on Mount Everest.

Countries across the world have offered Nepal both financial and practical assistance to cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
