Major 6.8-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Papua New Guinea

Earthquakes continue to hit the Southern Hemisphere. This time, a 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Papua New Guinea.

The island nation of Papua New Guinea was hit by a 6.8-magnitiude earthquake, followed by an even harder aftershock of 7.1, the US Geological Survey said.

The town of Rabaul, on East New Britain Island, was closest to where the earthquake hit. So far, there are no reports of deaths or damage.

Earthquakes are quite common in Papua New Guinea.
