BANGKOK, March 27 (Sputnik) – Russian national Sergei Kovalenko, who was arrested in Thailand at Interpol’s request on March 10, was deported to Russia on Friday, head of the consular section at the Russian Embassy in Thailand Vladimir Sosnov told RIA Novosti.
“Thailand’s immigration authorities handed Kovalenko over to the Russian police in Suvarnabhumi airport and sent him to Moscow on a regular Aeroflot flight, accompanied by police officers,” Sosnov said.
Kovalenko was included on the international wanted list on charges of being part of a criminal community, stealing within a group and extortion.
