Police arrested an unemployed man, identified as Tatsuhiko Hirano, who is suspected of killing five elderly people on Japan's island of Awajishima. Hirano, described by his neighbors as "hikikomori", or a social misfit, allegedly confessed to the killing.
Two men and three women were apparently stabbed early on Monday. Local police arrived at the scene after receiving a call from a 32-year-old woman, who said her parents had been killed.
