North Korea said it will no longer engage in talks with Washington and would respond to any US attacks with its own “preeminent” warfare.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Pyongyang is no longer willing to engage in talks with Washington, North Korea’s top military body said in a statement Wednesday, saying that “final doom” awaits the United States.

North Korea Throws Nuclear Curveball, US Diplomacy Strikes Out
“It is the decision of the army and people of the DPRK to no longer have a need or willingness to sit at the negotiating table with the US, since the latter seeks to stamp out the ideology of the former and ‘bring down’ its social system,” reads a statement from the National Defence Commission (NDC) published by North Korea’s national news agency.

Likening the United States to “gangster-like imperialists,” the NDC, headed by the country’s supreme leader Kim Jong-un, stated that North Korea, also known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), would respond to any US attacks with its own “preeminent” warfare.

“The US had better clearly know that the DPRK's smaller, precision and diversified nuclear striking means and ground, naval, underwater, air and cyber warfare means will be used,” the NDC said in the statement.

The United States should be aware “mindful that the time of nightmare is coming nearer when they will meet the most disastrous, final doom,” the statement concludes.

North Korea Stages Exercise Targeting Imaginary US 'Imperialist Carrier'
North Korea has repeatedly threatened to attack the United States, as well as neighboring South Korea, a close US ally. The two countries have no diplomatic relations.

In January, the North Korean Foreign Ministry issued a statement claiming that the United States rejected North Korea’s invitation for a senior US diplomat to visit Pyongyang, demanding it demonstrate a willingness to end its nuclear program before talks would proceed.

Washington has repeatedly expressed its concern over Pyongyang’s nuclear weapon tests, the latest of which was conducted in February 2013. North Korea withdrew from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 2003.
