MOSCOW, December 31 (Sputnik) — An explosion took place in southern China, killing 17 people and injuring 20 others, Xinhua reported Wednesday.
The news outlet reported that the explosion occurred in the Fuwa Engineering Manufacturing facility, in the city of Foshan, Shunde District, in China's Guangdong Province, on Wednesday morning. Those injured have been admitted to local hospitals, Xinhua said.

In August, an explosion at Zhongrong Metal Production Company in Jiangsu Province, eastern China, was reported to have killed over 70 people, with more than 180 injured. Media reports this week have revised the death toll of the August explosion upwards to 146.
