Pakistan Sponsors Terrorism in India: Indian Home Minister
NEW DELHI, November 29 (Sputnik) — India will not give way for any terrorist organizations attempting to create footholds in its territory, Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh said Saturday.

"There might be many terrorist organizations in the world but we will not allow them to get a foothold in our country," Singh said in the Indian Gauhati city while addressing senior police officers.

Minister Singh was addressing the 49th All India Director General and Inspector General of Police Conference in the eastern city of Gauhati, where he stressed the role of law enforcement agencies in ensuring national security.

"The country is united to fight any anti-national activity," he added.

Singh claimed that Pakistani state actors were responsible for attempting to destabilize India.

"Pakistan claims non-state actors are involved in terror acts, I ask Pakistan whether the ISI [Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence] is also a non-state actor," he added.

Rajnath mentioned this in reference to the most recent gun battle that erupted on Thursday between Indian troops and suspected Pakistani Islamist militants in the Jammu and Kashmir border regions. The battle left some 11 people dead, among them three Indian troops and four suspected militants.

While addressing the senior police officers, Rajnath also cautioned them about the need to efficiently monitor India’s coastal security.

"Our coastal security network is inadequate and it should be strengthened," the minister stated, adding that he was sure Islamist terror groups would not succeed in India.

The Kashmir conflict is a territorial dispute between India and Pakistan over control of overlapping territory in the region dating back to 1948. The conflict spilled over into an insurgency, for which India accuses the Pakistani ISI of supporting Islamist separatists in Jammu and Kashmir.
