MOSCOW, November 28 (Sputnik) – The supercell storm that hit the Australian city of Brisbane injured 39 people, Queensland state Premier Campbell Newman said Friday.

None of the 39 sustained serious injuries, including those who needed hospital care, Newman told ABC News broadcaster, adding that the storm was “terrible.”

The hail storm hit Australian southeastern state of Queensland on Thursday, tearing off roofs and felling huge trees and power lines. Over 65,000 homes have been left without electricity across Brisbane.

It is considered the worst thunderstorm the country has seen in a decade, with hail reaching size of a tennis ball, according to meteorologists.
