MOSCOW, November 9 (RIA Novosti) — More than 270 Russian tourists are delayed in Bangkok, Thailand, due to a breakdown of a plane belonging to Nordwind Airlines, chief of the consular department of the Russian embassy in Thailand told RIA Novosti Sunday.
"The plane that should have taken the route Bangkok – Moscow yesterday afternoon could not depart because of a breakdown which was not immediately fixed. More than 270 people, some of them with small children, stayed at the airport till 2 a.m. Then Pegas Touristc travel agency provided them with accommodation in the hotels in Bangkok, as well as transportation from the airport by buses," Vladimir Sosnov, Russia's consul, told RIA Novosti.
According to Sosnov, the flight is expected to be operated on Sunday at 14:00 local time (07:00 GMT).
Some of the tourists got anxious that Pegas Touristc had become bankrupt as a number of other Russian travel agencies earlier this year. However, the real reason for the delay was the breakdown and not the company's financial problems.
