NEW DELHI, November 1 (RIA Novosti) — The number of people killed as a result of a collision between two buses in Nepal has reached 14 people, the Makwanpur District Hospital told RIA Novosti Saturday.
"Fourteen people are confirmed dead, but we can't tell you the exact number of the injured. It's more that twenty," the representative of the hospital said. The injured are currently receiving treatment at the Makwanpur Hospital, some of them are in critical condition.
Meanwhile, the Nepalese police have confirmed that a Russian citizen was killed in the accident.
"Yes, a Russian female died. The dead body is in the hospital," the police told RIA Novosti.
All the deceased have been identified, the name of the Russian citizen killed in the accident is reported to be Daria Mlochkova.
Russian Embassy in Nepal has also reported they are working on verifying the circumstances of the accident, and checking the information about the deceased.
The accident happened at 2 a.m. local time (8:45 p.m. GMT) on Saturday. A bus going from Kathmandu to Biratnagar, made a head-on collision with another bus heading out of the city of Ilam to the capital.
The cause of the accident remains unknown.
