On his video channel, called "Awesome Eats," and with the bravado of most YouTubers, 22-year-old Mr. Sumadiwiria tag-lines his clips as "The Best Cooking Show in the World."
For one of his latest videos the YouTube vlogger (video blogger) decided to accept the challenge set to him by a friend, whilst choosing to eat in a small, backstreet restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Described on the restaurant menu as "death noodles," the dish that would likely invoke fear amongst mere mortals, contains an excessive amount of "birds eye chili," a variety of extremely hot chili that is used in a little more moderation in Thai, Lao, Khmer, Indonesian and Vietnamese cuisine.
The YouTuber, as seen in the video, laughed in the face of fear and indulged in fork-fulls of the beloved dish, with some very painful reactions felt almost instantly.
Sputnik reached the daring YouTuber by phone, as is currently traveling around Jakarta, Indonesia, and asked him why he did this.
"Because I'm pretty dumb enough to accept any challenges really, and my friend dared me to, so I did it!" Mr. Sumadiwiria told Sputnik.
When describing what happened as he was eating the food, Sumadiwiria's tone instantly changed:
"I thought I was going to die! My vision started to blur and for over 20 minutes I lost all hearing and couldn't hear anything at all. I had to pour water over myself, I drank more than I could even bear to and the effects of the chili would just not go!" he said.
"I've experienced the pain of being voluntarily tasered, and I've also been kicked in places where it hurts.
"But this was excruciating pain that I've never felt before, and would never like to feel ever again either!" he told Sputnik.
We asked if he indulged in any practice sessions to be able to condition his tolerance levels to chili, to which he responded by saying that he doesn't even like chili…
"I've put some very strange things in my mouth — from snakes to lizards and even roasted guinea pig once, which I tried when in Peru. But this is something I will never be able to forget!" he explained.
The YouTuber is already planning his next food-related video and said he was looking forward to continue entertaining people.
The official world's hottest chili according to the Guinness World Records website is Smokin Ed's "Carolina Reaper," grown by The PuckerButt Pepper Company in the US, which rates at an average of 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), according to tests conducted by Winthrop University in South Carolina, US.
