Counterterrorism Advisor to Represent US at Canonization of Mother Teresa

US President Barack Obama has appointed Homeland Security and Counterterrorism advisor Lisa Monaco to lead the US delegation during the canonization of Mother Teresa in Vatican City, the White House announced in a release on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Ambassador to the Holy See Kenneth Hackett and Deputy Assistant to the President Suzy George will also attend the event, according to the White House.

"The Honorable Lisa Monaco, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, will lead the delegation," the release stated.

In addition, the US delegation will include Catholic Charities USA President Sister Donna Markham and Catholic Relief Services president Carolyn Woo.

The canonization of Mother Theresa — a native of Skopje, Macedonia — will take place on September 4.
