Being a life-long believer in equality and the ideas of socialism, famous MMA fighter Jeff Monson said he wants to become a member of the Russian Communist Party, according to RT.

"I'd like to sincerely thank Gennady Zuganov [the head of the Russian Communist Party] for his invitation to meet with him and talk about joining the Russian Communist Party [KPRF]. All my life I've been an ardent believer in communism and came to Russia, among other things, to join the Communist Party," Monson told RT in an interview.

Earlier Monson said he believes in socialism and thinks it's the only way human beings would be able to survive in the future.

"Being in the Communist Party is a way to spread this form of socialism and freedom for all the people," Monson said in a video that was posted on the KPRF website and their YouTube channel on Friday.

During his interview with RT, the MMA fighter said he wants to travel across Russia and work with the Russian youth.

"I think that by working for the KPRF I hope I could reach these goals," Monson said.

Monson also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying he is doing a great job at helping the youth and supporting traditional Russian values.

Last year, Monson became a Russian citizen. The professional MMA fighter compiled a record of 60 wins and 25 losses in the heavyweight division in various MMA leagues, including the UFC. Some of his notable performances include wins over Alexander Emelianenko, UFC heavyweight Roy "the Big Country" Nelson and #3-ranked kickboxer Sergei Kharitonov.
