Time Magazine’s Person of the Year may have been Angela Merkel, but apparently nobody’s googling the German chancellor.

Internet users, by and large, are a fickle bunch. For a few glorious days, the web seemed to at least agree that the new Star Wars movie was incredible, but over $1 billion later, even that enthusiasm began to sour.

What, if anything, can unite cyberspace? Our best hope may be Kimberly "Kim" Kardashian West.

According to Time, the reality star was the most googled person of 2015, topping charts in 21 countries. The US, Canada, Norway, Qatar, France, Australia, Estonia, Poland, and Turkey are all big fans of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."

Of course, if Kim isn’t your cup of tea, fear not. There is another. Tied for first place is soccer star Lionel Messi, who also won 21 countries. The Barcelona forward was the most googled individual throughout much of Africa, as well as Argentina.

The unlikely Kardashian-Messi duo was followed closely by Cristiano Ronaldo, another soccer star who was most googled in 18 countries, including Mozambique, Spain, Laos, Georgia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan.

Rapper and former American Idol judge Nicki Minaj took Zambia, Lesotho South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, Swaziland, and Belize, while pop star Rihanna topped search results in Vanuatu, New Caledonia, and Madagascar.

Celebrities and athletes weren’t the only ones to take the Internet by storm this year. A select number of politicians also made it into the mix. Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was the most googled person in Greece, and the Sultan of Oman was the most searched in – you guessed it – Oman.

Russian President Vladimir Putin? He was the most searchable man in Ukraine, Moldova, and Latvia.
