WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The personal information of 191 million American voters has been exposed through a publicly available database, according to a Monday report from DataBreaches.net that tracks security incidents.

"On December 20, researcher Chris Vickery contacted DataBreaches.net to say he had found a database with 191,337,174 million Americans’ voter information exposed due to a misconfiguration of the database," the report said.

The report underscored that Social Security numbers and financial information, along with driver’s license numbers, have not been included in the database. It noted, however, that the leaked details are "problematic enough" in terms of privacy and security.

The creator of the database has not been established yet, and the information remains publically available, according to the report.

In 2015, the number of cyberattacks in the United States continued to grow, resulting in the largest cyber breach ever at the Office of Personnel Management. The breach affected 21.5 million current and former US federal government employees, including those who have applied for security clearance.
