MOSCOW (Sputnik) — In September, Elton John thanked the Russian president "for reaching out and speaking via telephone" in a message on his Instagram account. The following day, two Russian pranksters confessed that they had telephoned the musician, posing as the Russian leader.
After the practical joke, Putin called the British artist and suggested a meeting, urging him not to be offended by the prank call.
The musician later acknowledged that he was very flattered by Putin’s telephone call.
"The president has said that he is ready to meet Elton John. And as soon as the schedules intersect, they will meet," Peskov said, commenting on the musician’s statement that he would like to meet Putin in 2016.
