MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The official specified that the children will be placed into specialized facilities in Moscow for advanced medical care.
"An MES airplane has landed at Domodedovo Airport, with 14 critically ill children from Donetsk and Lugansk regions on board, according to updated information."
An Il-76 Candid airlifter equipped with high-tech medical modules departed from Ramenskoye Airport outside Moscow earlier in the day, later to arrive in western Russia's Rostov-on-Don.
Updated figures from the United Nations humanitarian office released earlier in the week placed the number of casualties from ongoing hostilities at nearly 6,500 people. More than 16,000 have been injured and 1.3 million displaced in over a year since government forces embarked on a military campaign against Donbas independence supporters.
A further 5 million Ukrainians in the country's southeast are in need of humanitarian aid.
