"UK has an important need of nurses in public and private hospitals. They do not have a sufficient number of British nurses to recruit. So, the UK needs to recruit foreign nurses. Thanks to YfEj [Your First EURES Job] they can have a professional and efficient scheme to recruit qualified nurses around EU," Dario Manna said.
Your first EURES job is an EU-targeted mobility scheme, mainly for young people, that facilitates working and recruiting in all the EU countries as well as in Norway and Iceland, Manna explained. He also emphasized that companies from 21 countries benefited of EU employers.
UK participation in the program has been recently condemned by British media, as it is seen to be hampering employment opportunities for young British nationals seeking employment.
The program helps young people find jobs in EU member states.
"YfEj is beneficial for the countries involved. Of course in EU there are countries that have an youth unemployment rate higher that others, with an important flow to Germany, Austria and UK," Dario Manna said.
The program is a useful tool for both job seekers and employers:
"YfEj is an efficient recruitment service around EU that give EU job seekers a concrete chance to find a real and validates job opportunity in another country and at the same time give to the EU employers the possibility to access to an important EU database with EU validate CVs".
Since the 2012 launch of the program, the United Kingdom has accepted the highest number of foreign EU citizens involved in the "Your First EURES Job," according to a report on the scheme prepared for the European Commission in May.
Most job seekers come from the EU countries with high unemployment rates, such as Spain and Italy, the report emphasized.
