MOSCOW, September 25 (RIA Novosti) – Apple was forced to pull the iOS 8.0.1 update hours after its release; users have faced download problems, cellular network connectivity issues, “no service” messages, and Touch ID problems, CNet.com has reported.

Apple issued a statement noting that they are “actively investigating [the complaints] and will provide information as quickly as we can,” the source also said. An iOS 8.0.2 is set to be released “as soon as it is ready, in the next few days.”

The update was meant to fix issues with iOS 8.0.0, including Wi-Fi connectivity problems, battery life issues, the unavailability of the new HealthKit apps, third party keyboard issues, and slow and the glitch-prone performance of the mobile’s Safari browser, among others.

MacRumors.com has said that the update seems to have affected only the newly-released devices.

Users who have downloaded the botched update have been told by Apple to reinstall iOS 8 with the help of iTunes.

The company also faced bad publicity with phones which would bend out of shape in users’ pockets and even in users’ hands, which has been playfully dubbed ‘bend gate’. The problem lies in the phones’ longer, thinner profile and vulnerable aluminum shell, especially around the volume buttons.

It is unknown whether and where the bent devices will be subject to replacement under warranty.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus went on sale in the US and ten other countries including Australia, the UK, and Singapore on September 19, selling a record four million units in the first 24 hours, and ten million by this week. They are being released in 22 other countries, including Russia, this week.

The official Russian launch has been scheduled for today. Chic urbanites who can’t wait have been paying the equivalent of $2,600 USD for the devices on the grey market, tech news service Mail.ru has said. Upon release, the iPhone 6  will sell for about $830 USD  and the iPhone 6 Plus will cost $960 USD.
