The Russian News & Information Agency RIA Novosti together with Dow Jones, the National Association of Stock Market Participants and the National Foreign Exchange Association are preparing to launch the international conference “The Russian Money Market 2010. Regional Ambitions.”
The conference will include the wide-ranging discussions about monetary policy and macroeconomic issues, exchange-rate policies, market instruments, the forex market situation, as well as about specific aspects of money market participants’ activity.
“The BRIC countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China, are playing an increasingly active role on the global economic scene,” said RIA Novosti Deputy Director-General Yevgenia Bugas.
“Economic expansion presupposes the development of modern financial instruments and the establishment of regional currency and economic centers. The upcoming conference will make the Russian money market more transparent, while also providing an insight into the advanced financial experience and economy of the Western world,” Bugas said.
The conference is expected to attract at least 200 top corporate CEOs from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the European Union and the United States and to become the largest and most significant event in the monetary sphere.
“The Russian debt market is developing in close conjunction with the national financial market as a whole,” said Alexei Timofeyev, Board Chairman at the Russian National Association of Securities Market Participants (NAUFOR).
“I believe the creation of favorable opportunities facilitating the access of a wide range of companies to the debt market is among its high priority objectives. This would become the first step to using the financial market as a source of assets for their development,” Timofeyev said.
Timofeyev thinks that public discussion of these issues is vital, as it will facilitate the exchange of opinion at the highest levels, and will enable the most effective decisions to be reached.
The conference will be held October 21, 2010 in Moscow’s Marriott Grand Hotel at 26/1 Ulitsa Tverskaya, Pavlovsky Hall.
