MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Liberia was first declared Ebola free in May 2015, but the virus has reemerged thrice since the declaration.

"WHO commends Liberia’s government and people on their effective response to this recent re-emergence of Ebola. WHO will continue to support Liberia in its effort to prevent, detect and respond to suspected cases," WHO Representative in Liberia Alex Gasasira said as quoted in the statement.
Liberia now enters a period of 90 days, when the country will be subject to thorough monitoring to contain possible new cases.
A country can be considered Ebola-free when 42 days pass after the last confirmed patient tests negative for the virus.
