As many as 119 undocumented migrants crossed Morocco's border into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta in North Africa on Saturday, local authorities said.

MADRID (Sputnik) — The migrants took advantage of the low tide and managed to cross the border near the Moroccan settlement of Benzu, according to a mission of the Spanish government in Ceuta.

The Moroccan security forces stopped another hundred of migrants from crossing the border.

According to Spanish media, all the migrants, who managed to cross into Ceuta, were intercepted and sent to a temporary migration center, 30 of them were in need of medical assistance.

Ceuta is a Spanish autonomous city located on the northern coast of Africa, on the border with Morocco.

In mid-1990s, Spain erected a 20-foot fence on the border between Ceuta and Morocco to stop illegal border crossings and smuggling. Morocco objected the construction as it does not recognize Spanish sovereignty in Ceuta.
