Egypt’s Top Prosecutor Dies After Bomb Attack
MOSCOW (Sputnik) Egypt will adopt new security legislation enabling faster trials for terrorism-related crimes, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi said.

It comes as Egyptian Public Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat died from his injuries Monday, following a bomb attack in the Heliopolis region of Cairo, targeting the prosecutor's motorcade.

“We will not wait five or ten years, trying the people that are killing us… We will make the law, a law to confront this,” he said as quoted by The New York Times on Tuesday.

Hisham Barakat oversaw several cases against officials of the banned Muslim Brotherhood movement of Egypt's former president Mohamed Morsi, deposed by the current leadership in 2013.

On Sunday, an Islamic State jihadist group's affiliate in Egypt published a video threatening judicial officials in the country.
