A bomb exploded under a car next to the Egyptian High Court, in one of the busiest districts in Cairo. Two people were killed and nine others were wounded, including seven policemen, an Interior Ministry statement said.
The explosion targeted a crowded area, next to some bus stops, a railway station and a nearby metro station. A little-known group claimed responsibility for the assault a short while after the explosion took place.
The incident area was blocked off by police. State TV later reported a second bomb scheduled to go off had been successfully disarmed.
