The UN Security Council said in a statement released Tuesday that the attacks, which took place on November 20, "have increased to more than 200 the number of civilians killed since mid-October in this region".
According to the statement, members of the Security Council said they "also condemned attacks targeted against peacekeepers of the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo" and stressed that "those responsible for threats or attacks against peacekeepers must be held accountable".
The Democratic Republic of Congo ordered to expel Campbell, director of the United Nations Joint Human Rights Office in the DRC, on October 16. The expulsion followed the release of a UN report into Operation Likofi that was set up to combat criminal delinquency in the capital Kinshasa and took place between November 15, 2013 and February 15, 2014.
