Gourmets around the globe celebrate International Chefs Day on October 20, indulging in grandiose feasts. It is a great opportunity to thank these wonderful people who create delicious savory and sweet meals, making our lives just a bit better.
Over past years, chefs from around the world held many grand events to celebrate, creating enormous versions of everyday food. It is better, indeed, to have a slice of a pie or pizza knowing that the whole thing was big enough to feed thousands - that makes every dish taste a thousand times better!

Costas Dasios (R), a restaurant owner in the western Greek port of Patras with the help of his employees makes the world's largest kebab, 24 October 2005 for the Guinness Book of Records. Dasios early on Monday began roasting a pork kebab weighing around 1850 kilograms (4079 pounds) on a 1,73-metre steel skewer, fueled by a two-ton natural gas tank. Approximately 150 kilos of spices and 100 kilos of salt went into adding taste to the kebab, which is known as 'gyros' in Greece. The giant kebab should be ready late evening and the city's poor will be the first to get a taste.
