MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Turkey’s Haberturk broadcaster said that the soldiers were passing inside a military vehicle in the province when an improvised explosive device detonated near the town of Hizan.
Other outlets suggested the blast was carried out by the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants, considered by Ankara a terrorist organization.
Nine people were reported killed and 210 wounded in explosions in the towns of Van and Elazig earlier in the day.
