DAMASCUS (Sputnik) — Armed groups have been pressing ahead with an offensive on the al-Ramusy area in the south of Syria's Aleppo for 24 hours, a source in the militia told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
"Intense fighting is still underway in al-Ramusy and on the territory of the military logistics and artillery academies. The army in al-Ramusy has been reinforced. Despite heavy losses, the terrorists still continue the storm," the source said.
According to Al-Mayadeen newspaper, the Syrian army repelled the insurgents' attack and launched an offensive near an artillery academy.
Fierce fighting continues near the entrance to Aleppo. Terrorists are carrying out attacks with mortars and sniper rifles at the highway, connecting Aleppo with other provinces. The entrance to the city was blocked on Friday night.
