WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has a small lead over her Republican rival Donald Trump in the US state of Georgia, which has not voted for a Democrat in presidential elections since 1996, a new poll by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution revealed on Friday.
"The poll released Friday shows Clinton at 44 percent and Trump at 40 percent in a head-to-head matchup," the poll summary stated.
Even in a four-way race with Libertarian Party candidate Gary Johnson and Green Party contender Jill Stein, Clinton still leads Trump 41 percent to 38 percent, according to the poll.
In May, the same poll had Trump in the lead with 45 percent to Clinton's 41 percent.
The last Democrat to win Georgia was Bill Clinton, who beat Republican President George H.W. Bush in the 1992 election.
