Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden May Follow UK Out of EU - Farage

Former UKIP party leader and pro-Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage said that the referendum on the membership in the European Union like Brexit could be held in Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands may be next in line to leave the European Union after Britain, former UKIP party leader and pro-Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage said Wednesday.

"I think there will be big pressure for a referendum in Denmark, so we could get Dexit. I think there is chance of a referendum in the Netherlands, so we could get Nexit. And, who knows, if we go for Sweden there could be Sexit," Farage said at McClatchy’s America Conventions show.

Farage, who was a leading voice of UK’s Leave campaign in the run-up to the June 23 referendum and currently represents Britain in the European parliament, said an EU exit was the only way of taking back control from Brussels.

The UK right-winger was speaking in Cleveland, Ohio, which is hosting the Republican National Convention. Earlier this week, the GOP officially nominated Donald Trump to run against Democrat's likely nominee Hillary Clinton in the US presidential race.

Nigel said he would not offer Trump a "full-throated" backing but said outgoing Democratic President Barack Obama had made a big mistake telling Britons how to vote. He then thanked Obama for giving the Leave campaign a leg-up of several points in the pre-vote debate.
