MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK Southern railway operator announced Tuesday it would cancel 341 trains a day starting July 11 until further notice due to strikes and staff shortage.
"Southern is introducing a temporary revised weekday timetable from Monday 11 July to reduce the impact on passengers and staff of unpredictable and late notice cancellations caused daily by unprecedented levels of train crew sickness and unwillingness among others to work overtime," the operator said in a statement published on its website.
According to the statement, the number of trains canceled in the revised timetable stands at 341.
The railway operator also said it would run longer trains and introduce replacement buses.
