At least two people were killed and 20 were injured in a blast at a battery plant warehouse in the Chinese eastern Jiangsu province's city of Qidong, local media reported Wednesday.

BEIJING (Sputnik) — According to the Sohu news portal, the explosion occurred late on Tuesday. A rescuer and a plant employee were among those killed. A total of 12 staff and eight rescuers sustained injuries.

The plant's operations have been suspended. An investigation into the causes of the incident has been launched.
