MOSCOW (Sputnik) – A correspondent with the United Kingdom’s BBC broadcaster has been detained and is awaiting deportation from North Korea, the outlet said Monday.
Rupert Wingfield-Hayes was detained on the fourth and last day of the ruling Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) congress.
A CNN correspondent suggested via Twitter that Wingfield-Hayes' detention and intended expulsion was due to "reporting deemed disrespectful" toward North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
