Among their advantages over traditional airplanes or helicopters, tiltrotors can make vertical takeoffs and landings on restricted landing pads while transporting passengers or cargo with greater speed and over longer distances.
"The complex is created for prospecting areas, including the possibility of dropping compact hardware in remote locations with the use of vertical takeoff and landing drones. Flight tests have already begun," the source said.
The Konvert-8’s maximum takeoff mass reaches 17.6 pounds, with a 5-foot wingspan and a payload of up to 2.6 pounds per one hour of flight. The plane-helicopter hybrid consists of an unmanned tiltrotor, a modular optical-electronic monitoring system, a remote ground control system, a discardable transport module, and entails a two-person operation.
