MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The package of anti-terror bills was submitted to the parliament earlier in the day.
"The bills were developed with the involvement of not only lawyers from our committees, but in consultation with the FSB [Federal Security Service] and the Anti-Terrorist Committee, so the bills will not be news to them. I think, the laws can be adopted before the end of the spring session," Viktor Ozerov, the head of the Defense Committee of the Russian Federation Council, told RIA Novosti.
The draft bills include a proposal on the creation of additional mechanisms to counter terrorist threats and stipulate life sentences for terrorists.
The bills also stipulate an increase of the punishment for financing terrorism for up to 15 years in prison.
