Head of Syrian HNC Opposition Meeting With EU's Mogherini Ongoing

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini is meeting with head of the Syrian opposition's High Negotiations Committee (HNC) Riyad Hijab, HNC member Monzer Makhous told Sputnik.

GENEVA (Sputnik) — According to Makhous, "he [Riyad Hijab] and two other HNC representatives" are meeting with the EU foreign policy chief.

The latest round of negotiations between the Syrian government and opposition forces kicked off on March 14 in Geneva and is due to recess on March 24.

Besides the government representatives, three opposition delegations are taking part in the negotiations: the HNC, which was formed in Saudi Arabia, a delegation formed following talks in Moscow and Cairo and a group formed after opposition talks at the Hmeimim air base in Syria.
