WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The New York City Police Department (NYPD) has increased security efforts amid deadly attacks in the Belgian capital and stays in close contact with the FBI and international partners, according to an NYPD statement released on Tuesday.
"The New York City Police Department is closely monitoring the situation in Belgium and is in close contact with our international partners and with the FBI. Until we learn more, the department has deployed additional counterterrorism resources across the city," the statement said.
At present, NYPD sees no indication of a valid threat to the city, the statement added.
