MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The issue of terrorist threat was raised during a US-initiated phone conversation that took place on Tuesday.
"They discussed separate aspects of bilateral contacts in different formats, including military, aimed at joint efforts to fight the threat of terrorism in the Middle East," the Kremlin said in a statement.
Vladimir Putin stressed the need to create a broad coalition to fight the Islamic State (ISIL, or Daesh in Arabic) terrorist group, which is outlawed in Russia, and other extremists.
"Vladimir Putin once again emphasized the need to establish a broad coalition to combat Islamic State and other extremist organizations, stressing the urgency of speedy preparation of lists of terrorist organizations and the rejection of double standards in the qualifications of certain groups," the press service said in a statement.
