About 150,000 South Americans Leave Homes Due to Heavy Floods

More than 150,000 people were evacuated from their homes in four South American countries because of heavy floods, media reported Saturday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) The region has been affected by heavy rains since December 18. Due to the rains, the local rivers of Uruguay and Quarai overflew their banks.

The natural disaster had an impact on thousands of families in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay making them temporarily quit their houses, the BBC reported.

The broadcaster said that the current flooding could be the worst in years.

Earlier in December, local media reported, about 100,000 people evacuated only in Paraguay and Uruguay.
