Serbia must stop sending refugees to the Croatian border and redirect them to Hungary to create the appropriate conditions for the reopening of the Croatian-Serbian border, Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic said Thursday.

BELGRADE (Sputnik) — Beginning Thursday midnight, Belgrade closed its border with Serbia, stopping transit across its territory for Croatian trucks, trains and ships after Zagreb had taken a similar action on Serbian freight traffic on Monday, citing Serbia’s alleged shipping of migrants across the border.

"We are registering and housing all the refugees, they don’t stay long in our centers. We count them, as best we can, and send them further… Serbia does nothing, except for sending them to two-three points on the Croatian border," Milanovic said at a press conference in Zagreb.

According to the Croatian prime minister, this problem can be solved if Serbia sends refugees to its border with Hungary.

According to the latest data, over 9,000 refugees enter Croatia daily, in search of alternative routes to Western Europe after Hungary sealed its border with Serbia.
