Bomb Explodes in Saudi Shi'a Mosque During Prayer, Casualties Reported
CAIRO (Sputnik) On Friday, a suicide bomber detonated explosives during prayers at a Shia mosque in eastern Saudi Arabia, killing 21 people and injuring more than 100.

In order to stabilize the situation in the region, “it is crucial to intensify fight against extremist terrorist groups, to stop engaging in the various shady undertakings abroad, to stop inflicting irreparable losses to the peoples," Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Marzieh Afham said Friday.

Saudi branch of the Islamic State (IS) militant group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in a group-affiliated Twitter account, accompanied by the image of the bomber.

Saudi Arabia has been part of US-led international coalition bombing IS targets in attempt to contain the advance of the militants who seized vast territories in Syria and Iraq.

Besides, Riyadh leads the international coalition carrying out airstrikes against the positions of Houthi Shiite rebels in Yemen.

The Saudi airstrike campaign has aggravated the tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, calling on Riyadh to stop meddling in the Yemeni internal conflict.
